Gary explained that Richards refusal to go on the trip, which is sponsored by a tour group, is because he has a fear of Central America. Richard, told Howard that he doesnt like visiting places like Central America because he doesnt like the idea of flying in planes flown by pilots who dont speak English. Because of his stance on the topic, Howard asked JD if hed be willing to go to Central America in Richards place. JD replied that hed think about going, but that hed have to consider how such a recorded act might affect his future career as a director.

  Roll the Cotton Down (A), (B)...
  This chantey has both a halyard and a capstan form, the later being distinguished by its grand chorus of "Roll the cotton, Moses." I did something uncharacteristic in doubling up the verses per each chorus -- purely to condense it, for the YouTube medium. Hugill's versions "A" and "B" have the same melody and chorus, but he seems to have divided them as such just due to the rough coherence of lyrical theme. The first "speaks to Negro nostalgia"; most of its verses are far too quaint to provide much interest nowadays. The chantey does probably derive, however, from a minstrel song that took that tone. The second version has to do with the work of screwing cotton. I selected verses from each and combined them (as would be done), rather than setting out two artificially distinct variants.
